THINGS TO KNOW

  • The best candidates are collaborative and ready to mobilize. Meantime accepts applications on a rolling basis, meaning a storefront or collaborator can become available at any time. It helps if you are nimble and flexible. Litmus test: If this sounds more exciting than stressful, you’re probably a good candidate.

  • Meantime gets you into a storefront at zero cost. That means you don’t pay us and you don’t pay the owner. This is about adding economic potential to your efforts. Meantime also provides activators with a basic fit out. This includes things like tables, seating, racks, and storage.

You are responsible for all other costs associated with your program. This includes any additional furnishing, lighting, or equipment beyond Meantime’s basic setup and any staff time to manage and operate your activation.

  • Meantime takes a collaborative marketing approach. While we don’t staff your operations with a dedicated marketing team, we co-share all posts related to your activation. By adding us as a post collaborator on IG – you access our social network as well, amplifying your posts and increasing your audience.

  • This varies case-by-case. There may be an opportunity to extend your activation through Meantime, and if you love the space and see a future there, you may have the opportunity to negotiate a lease agreement with the building owner.

  • Testing your concept in a brick-and-mortar space can help you decide if you’re ready for a storefront — or realize a storefront isn’t right for you.

You’ll also have an opportunity to expand your business, art practice or idea to reach new neighborhoods, audiences and networks.
